Madeline is TWO!

Madeline is two years old today! It's hard to believe she is having another birthday already! We celebrated with a bunny birthday party on Saturday. One of the highlights of her party was the hat-making station. Some fun and exciting hat creations came from this event! On her actual bday, we started the day with cake for breakfast and then went to the Durham Bulls game at 11 am. One of the players gave her a ball and Wool E. Bull (mascot) autographed it for her and wrote "Happy Birthday Madeline" on the ball. She was tickled pink! Tonight we had our small family dinner, cake and presents celebration. Little Miss has been singing the bunny foo-foo song and Happy Birthday to Madeline for weeks now. How nice it was to see her enjoy her birthday weekend!

Happy Mothers Day

Ahhh Motherhood! Isn't this what it's all about? Aidan and Madeline have reached the point where they argue over if I am Aidan's mommy or Madeline's mommy. Both shout back and forth, "No, she's MY mommy" and apparently this carries over into who gets to help unwrap gifts on Mothers Day. We had a nice breakfast at Nana and Baba's after church and then spent the remainder of the day relaxing and unwinding from our busy weekend. The weather was quite cool so we had to change at Nana and Baba's house in to warmer clothing. Notice the lovely vintage outfit that Madeline is wearing...straight out of the 70s. This was Anne's dress as a toddler and was dug up during some basement cleaning as Nana and Baba prepare for some remodeling.

Berry Patch

We joined three other families on our culdesac for a strawberry picking adventure at a local berry patch this Saturday morning. It was an awesome time! I think Madeline ate more berries than she picked! Aidan was the keeper of the basket and made sure we only picked red strawberries....no pink or green ones! We made out with a great bulk of berries when we were done and have been able to enjoy them for a tasty treat!

ZOO Birthday Surprise!

Madeline received an early bday gift from MeMe and Papa Don....a membership to the NC Zoo. This was such an awesome gift that we started celebrating early! Mommy took her along with Aidan and the aunties over the weekend. We're looking forward to going back soon with Daddy. Madeline's favorite animal was the Giraffe. Aidan liked the elephants, alligators, zebras and polar bear. By the end of the adventure Madeline was worn out....with her pretty in hand and thumb in mouth!

Grammy in NC

Grammy came to visit us earlier this month and we had a great time with her! She couldn't believe how big Aidan and Madeline have gotten since last fall. It was great to see her and spend some fun times together.

Martha's Party

We experienced a little bit of Martha here in Chapel Hill today. Julia Carpico (neighbor on our culdesac) won an Ultimate Block Party from Martha Stewart. So the Smith family joined our neighbors in attending the shin-dig this afternoon. The weather didn't cooperate, so some changes were made to Martha's original plan, but it was still a phenomenal event! Aidan's favorites were the balloon man and the magician. Madeline really loved the cupcake decorating station, but more importantly....eating her precious work of art! It's definitely the best block party we've ever attended!

B is for Blueberry

The children are learning to spell and write their names. Aidan mastered his name several months ago and enjoys to write Madeline's name now too. At school he told the teacher "B is for Blueberry" and that he likes to have them for breakfast at Baba's house. From the picture, apparently Madeline does too!
