4th of July!

The Smiths celebrated the week of the 4th in Door County, WI. We hit the parade at Egg Harbor, Julie's for cherry pie and did the Hairpin 5K. We also enjoyed fireworks, baseball, golfing, jet skiing and boating. Aidan and Madeline got to meet their cousin, Jerry, from Chicago and many other Plachetka relatives through out the course of the week.

Our lil' Durham Bull

Aidan has taken quite an interest in baseball. He loves going to the Durham Bulls games and we've purchased him a tee-ball set and glove. He chants "Let's Go Bulls" in the car, bathtub and during runs in the jogger. Before long, he was going to the cages with Baba and Daddy as they prepare for another Dodger camp. After watching these practices, he decided he wanted to be pitched to rather than hitting off his tee.

He now has his own "real bat" (the wiffle ball bat and tee are not good enough anymore!) and hits the ball very well for a 2 year old. This weekend he hit 8 of 17 pitched balls at the cages! Not too bad for somebody of his age. Aidan also has learned to run the bases..it is a regular Sat morning activity for the boys. They hit starbucks, then the cages and then run the bases. We hope he'll be brave enough to race Wool E. Bull at the Ball Park soon. Stay tuned for updates!!!!

Race For the Cure!

The Triangle Race for the Cure was a hit for our entire family. Mommy ran the 5k with Aidan and Madeline...her fastest time yet pushing two kids. 25 minutes! Aidan did the "way to go mommy cheer" most of the way. It was uphill the majority of the time!!! After the OPEN 5k, we hit the kids zone for face painting, jupiter jump, basketball, and the dunking machine. Aidan ran in the 100 yd race with the 3 year olds and got a T-shirt and ribbon! WHAT A BLAST!!!!

She's WALKING!

We've been celebrating Madeline's birthday for the past week or so. What fun for all! Today we wrapped up with a 1st birthday finale and she topped it off for us with something extra special. Miss Madeline started walking! We were so thrilled to see her take 6 steps all by herself. And imagine this....she started walking because she was trying to get to a new pair of pale pink sandals her Mommy bought her. Like mother like daughter...we love shoes!
